The details..

Get Tough! How to win in hand-to-hand fighting is a book by Major W.E Fairbairn which teaches the approved standard instruction for all members of His Majesty's forces such as Commandos and Parachute troops during World War II. The methods described are also suitable for any civilian who may find themselves in dangerous situations.

The author has carefully worked out these methods over many years from his experience working with ruffians, thugs, bandits and bullies at one of the roughest water front areas in the world - Shanghai Municipal Police Force - taking inspiration from Japanese judo (jiu jutsu) and Chinese boxing too.

Each method can be applied vigorously but should not be used without restraint due its potential lethality; practice must be done slowly first then gradually increase speed until movements become instinctive so that they can be executed quickly when needed. There is also advice given about defending against knife or stick attacks.

In conclusion this book offers an invaluable resource for anyone looking to learn self defence tactics applicable both inside and outside military service.
